So, I love it here and it will be hard to leave, but actually hearing that you really may not be able to leave when you think you will is hard. Our documents made it to Hawaii today. However, the USCIS office there is moving locations. So while they move they will not be doing any work. Therefore, our documents are delayed in Hawaii at the very start of this process.
So, not being the type of person to just let things go, I emailed the USCIS contact I have in Hawaii and then called our attorney here in RMI. He then had the US Embassy here in RMI call the contact in Hawaii. She assured the Embassy that as soon as she gets them in hand she will process them. However, he told me to keep following up on my end, too, because just because they say it doesn't mean they will do it.
The latest they would be finished moving is next Monday, so worst case scenario, they will work on our documents next Monday (which adds one week to our stay). If they get done this week, we are on target.
Please keep those prayers coming. Specifically pray for the person in Hawaii that she will be willing to process our paperwork in the midst of all the confusion of a move and that the documents get sent via courier on to Manilla.
I will keep you all posted. Thanks everyone!

BUMMER! Unfortunately, I have never heard of anyone's paperwork going smoothly. The paper trail has a plan of its own and it's usually not how you want it. At least it will give more time with your birth family. Early on it feels like you don't want to leave but at some point all you want is to come home. Then, when you've been back in the states for a while you wish you were back in RMI again. Funny how life works!
